10 Breathtaking Bridgerton-Inspired Wedding Decor Ideas
Bridgerton, Bridgerton, Bridgerton. I may or may not be grinning from ear to ear as I write these words. Dear Netflix, on behalf of the 82 million households that have basked in the glory that is Bridgerton, I would like to sincerely thank you for this beautiful creation.
I’ve always been a huge fan of period romances. You know the type. Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Becoming Jane, Young Victoria, Jane Eyre, etc. I also love me some Shona Rhimes, the writer and producer of many mainstream TV shows, including Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, and Scandal. So when Bridgerton came along with Shonda Rhimes, I knew I was going to be hooked right away with all the yummy drama.
What I didn’t anticipate was how spectacular the set design ended up being! With every episode, my jaw dropped with each new ball these debutantes were attending throughout the “social season.”
As a wedding planner, I found myself literally jotting down decor details I loved as each episode played on. Yes, the romance was fantastic and oh so satisfying (I mean, whoever that casted the Duke of Hastings really deserves an award from all of us), but personally, I think it’s the parties that stole the show.
If you’re currently planning a wedding, or just collecting #weddinginspiration here and there for your dream wedding one day, this epic list of Bridgerton-Inspired Wedding Decor Ideas is for you. And yes, I totally had too much fun putting this one together.
1. The Bridgerton House (Episode 1)
This house! From the opening scene, this house took my breath away. I can’t be more obsessed with all the dangling purple wisteria. I also loved the dainty pink flowers climbing the fence, as well as the two stunning white cherry blossom trees on each side of the front door. I can barely handle it. Is this not everyone’s dream home?!
Wedding Decor Tip: Consider decorating your wedding venue entrance with striking florals to make a big welcome statement, like the Bridgerton House. Moreover, if your wedding venue happens to be a private villa or house, consider draping dangling wisteria all across the front of the building, adding a touch of eternal romance to your wedding ceremony backdrop.
2. The Outdoor Ball (Episode 1 &2)
Of all the balls throughout the show, this one was my absolute favorite. This ball was a true show-stopper. That scene when all those lights get turned on at once and people gasped in awe. That glorious tree with the most beautiful white dangling flowers. The blue columns that lined the dance floor. And of course, the fireworks, both on the ground and in the sky, that lit up the night as everyone danced the night away. If I can do my own wedding all over again, I would design the after-party exactly as such.
Wedding Decor Tip: For the ultimate “wow” factor, always try to save room in your wedding budget for some fireworks. If your venue does not allow huge fireworks in the sky, consider using “cold fireworks” that can sparkle safely from the ground. In my opinion, “cold fireworks” is the underappreciated but true “moment-maker” at weddings and events, creating the most epic backdrops for a magical evening.
Separately, can we just take a moment and appreciate Simon and Daphne’s dance under that glorious tree (you know, the scene from her dream). I have no words!!!
3. The Stroll (Episode 2)
I could have not pictured a cuter cocktail hour or welcome event setting. These colorful tent stations are legit precious. From a floral standpoint, I love how there’s plenty of greenery complimented by purple, pink, and white flowers (with a touch of yellow). Most importantly, the little boats with the umbrellas!! It’s Central Park but 1000 times better.
Wedding Decor Tip: Tassled umbrellas are one of my favorite wedding trends right now. They are so stylish, so unique. For your cocktail hour or welcome event, consider creating several intimate seating areas on a lawn or open space with chic umbrellas and plenty of cushions. Think about using a vibrant color palette for your decor, creating a truly fun and upbeat atmosphere for you and your wedding guests.
4. The Red Ball (Episode 2)
I know red is not a common color palette for weddings, but if you’re going to do red, this is the way to do it. If you look closely, you will see that the red florals used are all a darker shade of red (there aren’t any bright red roses at all), and they are complemented with various shades of dusty pinks. The greenery used here is also not a vibrant shade of green. Instead, it’s a muted shade of light green. The deep red tones paired with muted, dusty pinks and greens create a romantic red palette that’s beautiful for weddings (vs. stronger red palettes might be more suitable for a proposal or event).
Wedding Decor Tip: For a traditional wedding corner, consider designing a champagne tower for your reception. Make it a focal point in the room, as these structures are totally glamorous and perfect for an Instagram moment! Separately, I looove me a good confetti entrance. No matter if it’s entering the room as a married couple for the first time, or the DJ kicking-off the after-party, confetti really elevate those special moments.
5. The Green Ball (Episode 3)
Who can forget this scene when Daphne walks into the room and grabbed everyone’s attention? As much as I loved that feather fan she was holding, I loved the dangling white florals all around the room even more. #danglingflowersforthewin
I know it might have been hard to take note, especially with so much drama going on in the scene (i.e. Simon terribly regretting giving the Prince a chance with Daphne), but so much thought must have gone into this set design. Being a wedding planner and all, I immediately noticed that everything in the room was green. You really don’t see any other colors besides the white florals and the wooden staircase. The delicious mint green walls, the sage green liner curtains, the dark green velvet floor-length curtains, and the natural greenery accentuating the white florals. Even the tiles on the floor had hints of green. So damn chic!
Wedding Decor Tip: When it comes to the perfect wedding color palette, there’s nothing more sophisticated than a monochromatic color scheme (only using shades of one color + minimal touches of white). Monochromatic designs are exceedingly striking and unforgettable because it’s a highly “simulated design,” as nothing in nature is often just one color. If you want something truly different and special for your wedding day, definitely consider a monochromatic color scheme for either your ceremony or reception.
6. The Circus Ball (Episode 4)
Yes, this is the ball where Daphne and Simon run into the garden and, you know. While I did not particularly like the interior design of this ball, I did love the circus performers that welcomed guests as they arrived for the seductive evening. What a way to make a statement! It reminded me of my own 30th birthday event in Marrakech where I had fire dancers, too!
Wedding Decor Tip: Brainstorming ways to “wow” your guests? What really brings an event to the next level? To be completely honest, having great food and drinks is the bare minimum for a wedding or event these days (there’s nothing worse than serving your guests bad food or not having enough food, FYI). The truth is, guests aren’t going to rave about your wedding because you simply had signature cocktails. Instead, take advantage of great music and entertainment to create an actual remarkable experience.
7. The Wedding Ceremony (Episode 5)
Finally, the actual Bridgerton wedding! Those who know me know that my event design style tends to be more on the lavish side, so the Bridgerton wedding was extremely understated from my perspective. With that said, I did love the actual design elements. I loved the green and white color scheme, the dangling white flowers, and the use of flower columns. I might have skipped the silk ribbons on the small flower bouquets that lined the aisle, but that might have been added to fit the vibe of the period piece.
How would one elevate this wedding to an Events by Paulina-like wedding? Personally, I would keep all the major design elements, and simply triple the amount of flowers everywhere. For example, imagine if there were dangling flowers that lined the entire outline of the main window above the alter. How gorgeous would that be?
Wedding Decor Tip: If you are getting married in a traditional church setting, consider using tons of florals for decor. Flowers and greenery breathe a breath of fresh air into these types of venues that could be rather stuffy otherwise.
8. The Wedding Cocktail (Episode 5)
I guess during the early 19th century, wedding couples didn’t do a formal sit-down dinner for their guests? Nevertheless, how stunning is this wedding cocktail? If you’re going to do an indoor cocktail hour, this is the way to do it. The pristine white walls with them stunning details, the golden chandelier, and the light blue feathers as part of the white florals, conveniently matching the curtains and carpet. I cannot tell you the joy this scene brought me, seeing a perfectly planned wedding cocktail.
Wedding Decor Tip: If you are considering having any part of your wedding day indoors, if possible, make sure to choose a venue with a high ceiling. Spaces with high ceilings always feel more grand to begin with; you can easily turn the space into something spectacular by simply adding a few touches. It is also important to consider density when choosing the right indoor venue; the guest to space ratio is extremely important in fostering the vibe you want for the event.
9. The Queen’s Garden Party (Episode 7)
How gorgeous are these pink cherry blossoms! And don’t even get me started on the garden grounds itself. Those striking rectangular pyramid scrubs are seriously everything. With most of the garden being green, I love that the Queen chose to use orange for the interior of her party’s tents. Not only is the pop of color super fun, the orange also further enhanced the cherry blossom’s pink tones.
Wedding Decor Tip: Just like how the Queen designed her Garden Party around the magnificent cherry blossom trees, try to incorporate as much of the venue’s natural surroundings as possible when planning and designing your wedding day. What is your venue’s innate focal point? How can you leverage that focal point to create Instagram-worthy moments? Use your imagination, and don’t be afraid to dream up of something truly wonderful (let us wedding planners worry about making that dream come true).
10. The Duke & Duchess Ball (Episode 8)
Just like how my jaw dropped with that outdoor ball in the first episode, I was absolutely floored by this final ball in the finale episode. There’re so many things to note, where do I even begin? The green ivys everywhere, the dainty blue and white flowers, that staircase, that marble checkered dance floor, and the chandeliers that are hanging from the sky?! How did they even hang those things? It’s like stepping into an outdoor ballroom and having all your wedding dreams come true.
